Mahindra’s Next Big Launch Is The 5-Door Thar Armada – Key Info

Indian auto manufacturer Mahindra is working to introduce the five-door Thar in the coming months. It will receive a lot of exterior and interior changes

Mahindra is all set for its big launch, which is the five-door Thar (which will likely be referred to as the Armada) in the Indian market later this year. The test mule of the upcoming Mahindra Thar five-door SUV has been spotted testing many times, revealing a lot of details.

In terms of exterior, the Mahindra Thar Armada will get a newly designed grille, revised front bumper and all-LED lighting. The side profile of the SUV will be flanked by 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. At the rear, Thar five-door SUV will sport a rear wiper and a new bumper. Moreover, the five-door Thar will also receive a remote fuel-filling cap.

Inside the cabin, the Mahindra Thar Armada will also come equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display as seen in the spy shot. Other key interior features will include a digital instrument cluster, a sunroof, front and rear centre armrests, push start/stop button and rear AC vents. The spy shots suggest that rear seats will have enough legroom and headroom space.

Mahindra Thar Armada is likely to receive a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. For enhanced safety, it will come equipped with Level-2 ADAS features, which will include Blind-Spot Monitoring, Lane-Keep Assist and forward-collision warning. The ADAS level 2 safety features may include lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning and assistance, and more.

Talking about the engine options, the off-road SUV will be offered in a 2.2-litre diesel and a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol with 4WD system. The former will generate 175 hp max power, while the latter will produce 203 hp peak power. The third engine option will be a 1.5-litre diesel, which will come with a Rear-Wheel-Drive setup.

In terms of pricing, the Mahindra Thar Armada is expected to be slightly more expensive than its predecessor. The current-gen Thar price in India ranges from Rs 11.35 lakh to Rs 17.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). When launched, the Thar Armada will lock horns with the Force Gurkha five-door SUV in the Indian market.
