Mahindra XUV700 AX5 Select is available only as a seven-seater in both petrol and diesel engine options
Mahindra & Mahindra has today announced the introduction of the new AX5 Select (AX5 S) variant of the popular XUV700 with a starting price of Rs. 16.89 Lakh (ex-showroom) for petrol MT. Available in a single trim and only as a seven-seater, it is positioned above the entry-level MX and AX3 and below the regular AX5 costing Rs. 80,000 less compared to the five-seater AX5 and Rs. 1.30 lakh cheaper than the AX5 seven-seater.
Some of the highlighting features in the Mahindra XUV700 AX5 Select are a skyroof, dual 26.03cm HD screens (one for instrumentation and the other for digital cluster) and push-button start/stop function that is typically associated with high-end trims. The AX5 S diesel MT is priced at Rs. 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The petrol AT and diesel AT trims are available at an additional cost of Rs. 1.60 lakh.
Earlier this year, the homegrown manufacturer launched the six-seater iteration of the XUV700 and more recently, the base MX variant received the seven-seater option. The new limited Blaze edition is based on the AX7 L trim and it features a Blaze Red colour, two-tone black exterior elements and an all-black interior with red accents.

Furthermore, Mahindra has substantially boosted its production capacity to shorten waiting periods, now typically ranging from four to eight weeks depending on the variant. Since its launch in 2022, the XUV700 has garnered widespread acclaim, not only in India but also in international markets including South Africa, Australia, Nepal, and New Zealand.
The new AX5 Select also offers in-built navigation with Native Maps, Adrenox with over 75 connected features, built-in Amazon Alexa, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, tilt adjustable steering wheel, six-speaker audio, 3rd row AC, 2nd row seat with armrest and cup holder, 2nd row 60:40 one-touch tumble, 3rd row 50:50 split with recline, LED DRLs, micro-hybrid tech, full-sized wheel covers, arrowhead LED tail lamps, follow-me-home headlamps, electrically adjustable ORVMs, etc.
As for the performance, the familiar 2.2L four-cylinder diesel and 2.0L four-cylinder petrol engines are utilised. The transmission options are a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter auto.
