Mahindra Treo gets IP67 rated advanced lithium-ion battery pack and to improve efficiency, the company offers regenerative braking and fast charging also
Mahindra has officially launched India’s first electric Auto Treo in India and the company introduced two different variants in which the base Yaari e-rickshaw is priced at Rs. 1.36 lakh and Rs. 2.22 lakh for Treo (both prices, Ex-Showroom Bengaluru). The Treo was first showcased as a concept model at the 2018 Auto Expo and the production model was revealed at the 2018 MOVE Mobility Summit.
The Treo is so advanced that it comes with space frame design, which ensures that the pressure on impact is distributed evenly and the company has also given strong crash guard at the rear to protect the passengers from rear-end collisions. According to Mahindra, the Treo comes with best-in-class torsional rigidity and bending stiffness.
Mahindra has given lithium-ion battery pack, which is stored under the driver seat and it comes with IP67 water and dust resistance, the company also offer more than 5 years of life for the battery. The Treo is powered by 7.37 kWh Li-ion, 48V battery pack. The maximum power output is 7.2 hp and 30 Nm of peak torque.
The Treo Yaari e-rickshaw is powered by 3.69 kW li-ion, 48V battery pack, the max power output is 4.94 hp and 17.5 Nm of torque. The company is also offering fast charging as Treo will take 3 hrs and 50 minutes to completely charge the battery from 0-100 percentage and 2 hours and 30 minutes for Treo Yaari.
The top speed of Treo is 45 kph and the certified range from ARAI is 170 km, but the real world range is expected to be around 130 km. The Yaari top speed is limited to just 24.5 kph and the ARAI claimed range is 120 km, while the real world range will be around 85 km. To improve efficiency, Mahindra is offering regenerative braking also.
Next Generation Mobility (NEMO) is a cloud base mobility platform and it is targeted for fleet operators as the mobile application gives a live range, speed and location of the vehicle, which will help them to operate the fleet efficiently. The company offers 24 months or 50,000 km warranty for Tero and it is manufactured at its Bengaluru plant.
