Mahindra has begun the delivery of Alturas G4 in India via World of SUV dealerships that offer a premium experience to the customers
Mahindra officially launched the Alturas G4 last month in India at the starting price of Rs. 26.95 lakh for the entry-level M2 4×2 variant and Rs. 29.95 lakh (both price, Ex-Showroom). The company commenced production of the Alturas G4 before launch and the initial batch started reaching dealerships during the launch week.
Thanks to our reader Rinil for sharing these images as the company has begun delivery of Alturas G4 in some dealerships and from the images, we can see that the showroom is different as the company has specified that Alturas G4 will be sold through new premium World of SUVs dealerships, which will be inside the existing showroom.
The Alturas G4 is based on the new generation SsangYong Rexton. The Indian-version of Rexton was showcased for the first at the 2018 Auto Expo and the company has made minor changes like new chrome finished grille at the front to make it inline with other Mahindra products.
The SUV comes with 18-inch alloy wheels as standard while the rear get LED tail lamps and a new bumper as the overall design gives a premium look for the SUV. The Alturas become the second model from Mahindra to be based on monocoque chassis as it improves comfort and gives a car like handling for the SUV.
The interior continues the premium feel as the quality of materials is excellent and the design is different. The flagship SUV is loaded with lots of features like 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Nappa quilted leather upholstery, 360-degree camera, 8-way adjustable driver seat with memory, dual-zone climate control and more.
The Alturas is powered by 2.2 L four-cylinder diesel engine producing 178 hp of power at 4,000 rpm and 420 Nm of torque between 1,600 rpm and 2,600 rpm. This engine is mated to 7-speed automatic gearbox sourced from Mercedes Benz and the company offers four-wheel-drive system is also as it competes against Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
