KTM 390 Duke Sells Much More Than Bajaj Dominar 400 In November

Bajaj Auto manufactures both bikes, even though the 390 Duke is positioned in a higher price segment, it has sold much more than the Bajaj Dominar 400 in November 2018

Bajaj Auto Limited sold 170 units of the Dominar 400 in the Indian market. While it is way less than the regular monthly sales of the bike, KTM 390 Duke sold as many as 239 units, which is 69 units more than the Bajaj Dominar 400.

The Bajaj Dominar 400 sells much higher than the KTM 390 Duke in monthly sales. It is also priced much lower than the KTM 390 Duke. The Dominar 400 serves the long-distance tourers while the KTM 390 Duke is targetted at the customers who want a sporty, naked street bike.

The new Bajaj Dominar is due and the bike has been caught testing several times on the Indian roads. It is quite possible that Bajaj has lowered the production and dealer dispatches before the launch of the new Dominar 400 in the Indian market.

Whereas there is no update in line for the KTM 390 Duke in the near future and it is business as usual for the Austrain manufacturer in the Indian market. After the Bajaj launches the new Dominar in the market, the sales are expected to be back to normal.

Bajaj is working on the updated Dominar 400 that will come with a host of updates in the market. From the spy pictures, the new features can be seen. The upcoming Bajaj Dominar 400 will come with upside down forks, a new exhaust among other updates that remain hidden under the camouflage.

Bajaj-Dominar-400-2019Also, the upcoming safety rules will make it mandatory for the two-wheelers above 125cc to offer mandatory ABS. Bajaj offers ABS as an option on the Dominar but with the update, only the dual-channel ABS version may remain on the sale.

The Bajaj Dominar 400 and the KTM 390 Duke use the same engine block. The liquid-cooled engine produces a maximum of 35 Bhp and 35 Nm in the Dominar 400 while the engine is tuned to produce a maximum of 44 Bhp and 37 Nm in the 390 Duke. Both the bikes get a 6-speed transmission.
