Achieving all-time high annual sales record, Kia has surpassed the 7 lakh units mark in the U.S. market for the year 2023
We all know that Kia is on a roll in the Indian market as it received a very warm response from customers after its debut in the year 2019. In a very short time period, the Korean carmaker got hold of a significant market share by playing in the highly popular SUV and MPV segment.
In line we this, we have very exciting news coming from the USA where Kia has hit its all-time high sales record. What is this latest buzz all about? Let’s find out. As per the reports, Kia America has sold a total of 7,22,176 units till November in the year 2022.
For the record, the Korean automaker has grossed over 7 lakh units for the second time in the U.S. market. The year 2016 was the time when the company sold just slightly over the 7 lakh mark, 7,00,862 units to be precise.
It is important to note that the 7 lakh mark has been breached till November 2023 and there is one more month to go before the year comes to an end. In the month of November, Kia sold 58,338 cars which is a 3% gain over the previous year. This also sets a new record for a 16 consecutive months rally for year-over-year sales growth.
Amongst the top-selling models, Forte, Sportage and Telluride are standing strong with over 1 lakh units sold in the year 2023. Trailing behind is the Sorento SUV and the Carnival is also performing very well with over 40 thousand units in its account which is a huge jump from the previous year’s sales mark.
While a lot of models have gained in 2023, there are a few misses as well like EV6, K5 and Stinger, which have not performed very well this year. Speaking on Kia’s success, the brand’s vice president of sales, Eric Watson said “Demand for Kia vehicles continues at an all-time high, and beating our previous annual sales record in less than 11 months demonstrates the power of the Kia brand.” He further added that new customers are shopping Kia cars like never before and the “winning streak” should continue into the New Year, thanks to models like the EV9 and facelifted Sorento.
