Kawasaki is working to launch its new retro motorcycle, the W230 in Japan later this year. Drawing inspiration from the design philosophy of the W series models, the upcoming Kawasaki W230 exudes a classic aesthetic.

Earlier showcased at the Japan Mobility Show 2023, the Kawasaki W230 gets a minimalistic design. Featuring a circular LED headlamp and twin analogue gauges with a digital display, the new W230 receives chrome inserts on the headlamp bezel, handlebar and exhaust pipes.

Following a white paint scheme with a black stripe and ‘W’ badging over the fuel tank, the Kawasaki W230 comes with a dual-tone white and black seat cover. In addition, the motorcycle has 18-inch and 17-inch chromed-out spoke wheels at the front and rear, respectively.

The rear of the motorcycle sports a square-shaped halogen tail lamp along with circular turn indicators. For suspension, the new Kawasaki W230 comes with front telescopic forks and rear dual shock absorbers. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS as standard.

At its heart, the Kawasaki W230 will likely utilize a new 233cc single-cylinder SOHC air-cooled engine which will be Euro 5-compliant. Specifications are yet to be revealed, however, it is expected to generate a peak power of 20 hp @ 8,000 rpm and a max torque of 20.6 Nm @ 6,000 rpm.

The Kawasaki W230 features a compact profile that enhances manoeuvrability on bustling city streets, highways, and diverse environments. Expected to come with a seat height of 800 mm, the W230 ensures a comfortable ride experience with a wide handlebar and mid-positioned foot pegs. In addition, the motorcycle gets a horizontally-placed exhaust with chrome accents and a wider rear fender.

The company has not yet confirmed whether it will launch the Kawasaki W230 in the Indian market. If the W230 is introduced in India, it will lock horns with the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, RE Classic 350, RE Bullet 350, RE Meteor 350 and Honda CB350, among others. As of now, the company will be introducing the W230 in the Japanese market only.
