The JSW Combat PHEV is expected to launch in India before the end of 2026 as the company prepares its new five-seat SUV for the local market as its first entry. The Combat is based on the Jetour T2 sold overseas and will likely enter the country as a plug-in hybrid SUV. It could be priced in the upwards of the Rs. 30 lakh and could rival recently launched Kia Sorento and MG Hector Tomahawk.
The cabin is expected to centre on a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system as JSW positions the Combat in the premium SUV space. The equipment list will comprise wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 12-speaker audio system, ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof. The front seats will get power adjustment and ventilation too.
The design comes with upright and squared-off proportions of the Jetour T2. It gets LED headlamps, roof rails and 20-inch alloy wheels, and sits on a monocoque chassis. The plug-in hybrid system is expected to revolve around a 1.5-litre turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine and two electric motors. The India-bound model could get an 18.4 kWh battery pack and an electric-only range of around 90 km.

The global Jetour T2 PHEV gets a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission. The PHEV makes around 360 hp and 610 Nm internationally and the same figures could be available in India too. It will arrive in a front-wheel-drive configuration. The Combat will also gain a substantial camera and driver assistance systems as a 360-degree camera unit, a 540-degree view that can show imagery beneath the vehicle, adaptive cruise control, etc are likely.
JSW currently has a joint venture with MG and is actively expanding its automotive business with a solo entry set to become the key highlight in its plans. The brand is also testing multiple Chery-based products for India as PHEVs, range extenders, strong hybrids and fully electrified vehicles will take the spotlight in its initial phase.

The JSW Combat will more likely launch before the closure of this calendar year in India and it will be interesting to see the impact it can make on the market.
