TVS Racing Electric One Make Championship (e-OMC) will debut on September 29 at the fourth round of INMRC; 8 riders to race on the TVS Apache RTE race motorcycles

TVS Motor Company company has today announced the launch of India’s first-ever electric two-wheeler racing championship reaffirming the brand’s commitment to sustainable mobility solutions as it becomes the first Indian manufacturer to enter into electric racing. The TVS Racing Electric One Make Championship (e-OMC) will see the debut of the electrified Apache RTE race machines.

These zero-emission motorcycles are developed specifically for the e-OMC and the championship builds on the racing heritage carved for over forty years. Speaking on the announcement, Sudarshan Venu, Managing Director, TVS Motor Company said, “TVS Motor has been championing racing ever since we started India’s first factory racing team. TVS Racing has been instrumental in making motorsports aspirational yet accessible for enthusiasts across the country.”

The Hosur-based company has been a pioneer of many technologies in the two-wheeler industry over the years under the ‘track to road’ philosophy. TVS has been the frontrunner in the racing space as it introduced the TVS OMC in India in 1994 and expanded it to women and rookie classes. TVS was also the first Indian manufacturer to foray into the Asia One Make Championship or compete in Dakar.

The TVS Racing e-OMC will debut in the fourth round of the Indian National Motorcycle Road Racing Championship (INMRC) and the first round of the championship will witness the participation of eight hand-picked riders. The Apache RTE race machines are said to have the highest power-to-weight in their class with a liquid-cooled motor and a high-efficiency liquid-cooled motor controller.

The RTE (Racing Throttle Electric) machines will feature a battery pack with advanced chemistry and high-power cells. The carbon fibre battery case also acts as a stressed member of the chassis and the custom-built advanced BMS (Battery Management System) with race special algorithms ensure several advanced configuration controls and high levels of safety.

The single reduction, motor spindle is connected to the rear wheel through sprockets and roller chain. The race motorcycles are equipped with bespoke Ohlins suspension at the front and rear while the braking duties are handled by a 320 mm front disc, callipers and master cylinder from Brembo. The wheels are also made of lightweight carbon fibre and they run on Pirelli Super Corsa tyres.

The fairing is also made of carbon fibre and is claimed to have the class-leading lowest drag coefficient. The TVS Apache RTE machines boast TVS Racing Factory colours in their sporty livery alongside sustainability-inspired graphics with neon and blue touches.
