Hyundai India is gearing up for the launch of the new-gen Grand i10 hatchback in India next month, to get revised exterior and connectivity features
Hyundai India has been testing the new Grand i10 hatchback for long now and as per a report, Hyundai will launch the new second-generation Grand i10 on 20th August 2019. Seen testing many times under heavy camouflage, the spy images suggests that the new Grand i10 will sport a fresh styling on its exterior and interior.
The engine options can be altered too and the focus will be on enhancing technology features inside the car. The exterior design will have a new fluidic design with a wider front grille, new alloy wheel design, sharper headlights and a new tail-light.
Inside the cabin will be a new dashboard layout with a large 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, that will now get the Hyundai BlueLink technology, a connected system first launched with the Venue Compact SUV.
Powering the new Grand i10 will be a BS-VI compliant 1.2-litre Kappa engine in the same state of tune as the outgoing model, producing 83 hp output. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and the torque converter automatic gearbox will be replaced with a more affordable AMT automatic unit. The other engine will be the BS-VI version of the U2, 1.2-litre diesel unit that will only get a manual gearbox.
The Hyundai Grand i10 was in a dire need for an update considering it has been a while since any update was added to the small hatchback and also its main competitor Maruti Suzuki Swift is doing wonderfully good in the market.
Hyundai could follow the Maruti Suzuki strategy to keep the old Grand i10 selling with a ‘Prime’ suffix to cater to the fleet operations. Expect the price to be similar to the outgoing model, with more affordable automatic gearbox.
