Chung Euisun, Vice Chairman, Hyundai India confirmed at India Move Summit in New Delhi that the company will bring Nexo FCEV to the Indian market
Hyundai Nexo Fuel Cell Vehicle made its global debut at 2018 CES and the company showcased the FCEV at India-Korea Business Summit in New Delhi in February early this year. Recently, GST council announced that duties on hydrogen-powered vehicles have been reduced from 28 to 12 per cent.
Chung Euisun, Vice Chairman, Hyundai India confirmed that the company will bring Nexo FCEV to the Indian market, but he didn’t specify the time frame of launch, but it could happen by the end of 2020 as the company is already going to launch Kona EV next year in India. Hyundai already sells Nexo FCEV in Korea.
The Nexo FCEV follow the footsteps of Tucson FCEV, but the company has given a completely new platform for Nexo and it uses a 95 kW fuel cell powering an electric motor producing 161 hp of power and 395 Nm of torque. The FCEV can achieve 100 kph from standstill in just 9.2 sec and top speed is 177 kph.
The most impressive thing about Nexo FCEV is its 609 km range on a single charge. Even the most advanced EVs takes at least 30 minutes to completely charge the battery, but the hydrogen fuel tank can be filled within minutes. The Nexo FCEV also has an air-purifying ability in where 99.9 per cent of particulates is purified during the drive.
The design of Nexo FCEV is inline with new generation Hyundai models as the company has given slim LED headlamps with big cascading signature Hyundai grille and new bumper at front. The side continues the sporty design theme from front and rear also gets LED tail lamps with an integrated spoiler.
The interior of Nexo FCEV is modern with two 12.3 inch screen in the dashboard as one for the instrument cluster and the second one for infotainment system along with controlling other function. Hyundai has also given lots of advanced safety tech like Lane following assist, blind spot monitor, remote parking assist and more.
