Hyundai could enter India’s popular MPV segment in 2027 with a new three-row model called the Neira. The MPV was showcased as an electric prototype at the 2026 Indonesia Motor Show, and a new report suggests that an India launch could take place in the first half of next year.
Unlike the electric prototype shown overseas, the India-bound model is expected to launch initially with an internal combustion engine. It is likely to share its underpinnings and several components with the Kia Carens Clavis, giving Hyundai a quicker route into a segment where it currently has no direct rival. The Neira concept has a familiar silhouette, closely resembling the Kia Carens Clavis.
Hyundai has given it a different front-end design, revised alloy wheels and its own branding, while the rear retains a connected tail-lamp arrangement. The cabin is also expected to share much of its layout with the Kia. The concept features a dual-screen dashboard, a separate climate-control panel and a panoramic sunroof. These details could change on the production-spec India model. The MPV is expected to offer three rows of seating, making it a family-focused alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, XL6 and Kia Carens Clavis.

According to reports, Hyundai could offer the Neira with a range of powertrains, potentially including a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, a 1.5-litre diesel and a factory-fitted CNG option. The shared platform and powertrain strategy could allow Hyundai to draw from the options already available in the Kia Carens Clavis range. However, the final engine and gearbox combinations for the Neira have not been confirmed.
The CNG option could be particularly relevant in the MPV segment, where running costs matter to private owners and fleet operators alike. A potential electric version could follow, given that the concept showcased in Indonesia was an EV.
The Neira is expected to be showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in 2027, with a market launch reportedly planned for the first half of the year. Hyundai has not announced a price range. Its principal rivals would include the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki XL6 and Kia Carens Clavis. Pricing will be crucial: Hyundai would need to position the MPV competitively while differentiating it from its Kia sibling through styling, equipment and its dealership network.

Hyundai has not officially confirmed the India launch, name, specifications or pricing. The reported timeline and powertrain details should therefore be treated as expectations rather than confirmed product plans.
