Hyundai Motor India Foundation’s ‘Art for Hope – Season 3’ Kicked Off

The 4-day ‘Art for Hope – Season 3’ event by Hyundai Motor India Foundation will feature work of 40 grantees; the selected artists hail from 20 diverse regions across India

The Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), has announced the recognition of 40 grantees from 20 regions across the country in the third edition of its flagship initiative, ‘Art for Hope’. It is aimed at nurturing and promoting India’s rich traditional art, craft, and culture and to serves as a platform to showcase the remarkable talent of artists from across India.

The new season of Art for Hope is set to unfold its wonders at Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi, between March 28 and 31, 2024. This vibrant four-day event, comprising exhibitions and workshops, offers a nurturing ground for emerging artists, youth, women, communities, and local talents to showcase their creativity. All participants are empowered by HMIF grants, enhancing their endeavours in the realm of art and culture.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Kumar Tuhin, Director General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), along with renowned Kathak artists and Padma Shri awardees, Ms. Kamalini and Ms. Nalini Asthana. Adding to the distinguished guest list was Mr. Un Soo Kim, MD & CEO of Hyundai Motor India Ltd. Their presence elevated the event, showcasing the collective commitment to promoting and preserving India’s rich cultural heritage.

In alignment with Hyundai’s global vision of ‘Progress for Humanity,’ Art for Hope endeavours to democratise access to art by providing a national platform for artists to showcase their talent and creativity. This initiative encompasses a diverse array of artistic domains, including visual art, digital art, performing art, traditional folk art, and cultural community art.

Through this inclusive approach, Art for Hope aims to celebrate and support India’s vibrant artistic heritage while fostering creativity and cultural exchange. Speaking at the inaugural event of Art for Hope – Season 3, Mr. Un Soo Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said,

Artists present a glimpse of our world, things beyond we could see with our eyes, and it is this unique perspective and world-view that we truly admire at Hyundai.”

Since its inception in 2021, Art for Hope has made significant strides, reaching every state in India and positively impacting over 100 artists. Over the past three years, HMIF has demonstrated unwavering commitment to promoting art and culture by awarding 100 grants totaling Rs. 1.05 crore, with an overall investment exceeding Rs. 5 crore.

These initiatives have benefitted over 11,000 artists and artisans across the country, underscoring the program’s profound impact on the artistic community. Through a rigorous evaluation process led by a distinguished jury panel, Art for Hope – Season 3 meticulously shortlisted 40 artists from a pool of 470 applications. The selection criteria encompassed elements such as project concept and impact, artist portfolio, and their individual backgrounds, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of each applicant’s artistic merit and potential contribution.
