The BSVI compliant Hyundai Elantra uses a 1.5-litre U2 CRDI diesel engine developing 115 PS maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has today introduced the BSVI compliant diesel version of the Elantra sedan in the domestic market. As previously suspected, it gets a 1.5-litre U2 CRDi four-cylinder diesel engine and is paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.

Late last year, the South Korean auto major launched the facelifted version of the Elantra with evolutionary exterior updates and a brand new interior. Right from its debut, the Elantra has been retailed only with a petrol engine and now the addition of an oil-burner has certainly helped in expanding the range.

Speaking on the launch of the BSVI diesel variant of the Hyundai Elantra, SS Kim, MD & CEO,Hyundai Motor India Limited, said: “We are enhancing customer delight on ELANTRA with the addition of Fun to Drive & Powerful 1.5 l U2 CRDi Diesel BSVI Powertrains.” while providing improved value proposition for existing Petrol BSVI powertrain options as well on the executive sedan.
