Hyundai has just launched its latest offering in the form of the Bayon. It focuses on cabin technology and driver assistance. The Grand Vitara, Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Victoris offer a wider range of fuel options, including strong hybrids. The biggest differences are in pricing, powertrain choice and the features available at each end of the range. Let’s see how the Bayon fares against its competitors.

The Victoris spans a wide price range, with petrol, CNG, strong-hybrid and all-wheel-drive variants. All prices are ex-showroom and indicative of the currently listed ranges. The Bayon’s 115 PS petrol engine offers the highest quoted output among the conventional petrol engines here. However, the Grand Vitara, Hyryder and Victoris have an important advantage: their strong-hybrid versions can run on electric power at low loads and deliver considerably better fuel efficiency in city traffic.

Its underbody CNG tank also helps preserve boot practicality compared with the Grand Vitara’s in-boot arrangement.
The Hyundai Bayon stands out for cabin technology and driver assistance, particularly if you want a feature-rich petrol SUV. The Grand Vitara and Hyryder make more sense if strong-hybrid efficiency or all-wheel drive is a priority.
The Victoris offers a broad mix of powertrains and features, including ADAS and a more practical CNG installation.
Ultimately, compare equivalent variants rather than just the starting prices. The entry-level model may not offer the automatic gearbox, hybrid system or premium features you actually want.
