The carmaker is preparing a broader product push, with a Fronx refresh and a three-row electric MPV among the key developments

Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming product plans could bring changes across several segments, from compact crossovers to premium MPVs and electric family cars. The Fronx facelift has been spotted testing, while a three-row electric MPV, internally codenamed YMC, has also appeared on Indian roads.

A camouflaged Victoris has added another talking point, although its purpose remains unclear. Meanwhile, reports suggest that Maruti is considering a smaller electric vehicle and an update for the Invicto. Not all these developments are equally certain, so here is what we know about each of them.

1. Maruti Fronx facelift

The Fronx facelift is expected to bring styling revisions to the front and rear, including a redesigned grille, updated bumpers and changes to the lighting. Test vehicles have also raised expectations of additional safety and convenience features. One of the more interesting possibilities is the addition of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). A radar sensor seen on a test vehicle has fuelled speculation about features such as adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking. These remain unconfirmed for the production model.

The existing 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engines could continue. Maruti is also working on a more affordable hybrid system for smaller cars, and the Fronx is among the models that could eventually benefit from it. The exact powertrain combination and launch timeline have not been officially confirmed.

2. Maruti YMC electric MPV

The YMC is expected to become Maruti Suzuki’s first all-electric MPV. Spy shots point to a three-row layout, an upright body and an SUV-inspired design, with a long roofline intended to accommodate family-friendly seating. The model is expected to share its dedicated EV platform and powertrain components with the e Vitara. Reported battery options include 49 kWh and 61 kWh packs, although Maruti has not confirmed the specifications. Its range could also differ from the e Vitara because of the MPV’s larger body and additional seating.

The YMC is expected to enter the market in 2027, with a Toyota-badged derivative also reportedly in development. If priced competitively, it could give buyers another option in the emerging electric MPV segment.

3. Maruti Victoris spotted testing

A heavily camouflaged Victoris test vehicle has been spotted, prompting speculation about a possible new powertrain or an update. However, the available spy images do not establish whether it is an electric version, a flex-fuel or alternative-fuel prototype, or a development vehicle for another purpose.

A facelift also seems premature, given that the Victoris was launched in 2025. There are no confirmed details about changes to its design, equipment or engine range. For now, the sighting is worth watching, but it would be too early to call it a new Victoris variant.

4. Small electric car

Maruti Suzuki is expected to expand its EV portfolio beyond the e Vitara. A smaller electric vehicle could help the company reach buyers looking for a more affordable city-friendly EV, potentially taking on models such as the Tata Punch EV and other compact electric cars.

Representational

The identity of this future model has not been confirmed. A Fronx-based EV and an electric derivative of the Brezza have both been discussed as possibilities, but neither should be treated as a confirmed production model. Maruti has been reported to be planning another EV reveal in 2027. Whether that vehicle will be a compact electric SUV or the YMC electric MPV remains unclear.

5. Maruti Invicto facelift

The premium Invicto MPV could also receive an update, according to reports. Possible changes include revised exterior detailing and an expanded equipment list, potentially addressing some of the feature differences between the Invicto and its Toyota Innova Hycross counterpart.

However, there is no confirmed launch date or official specification list for an Invicto facelift. The current model continues with a 2.0-litre strong-hybrid powertrain paired with an e-CVT automatic transmission. Any changes to the engine, variant line-up or equipment will need confirmation from Maruti Suzuki.
