Honda 0 α Concept
The production version of the Honda 0 Alpha concept is due to go on sale in India by the end of FY2026-27 as the company prepares its first electric SUV for the country. Its production name will be announced sometime later this year. The SUV debuted as a concept in 2025 and Honda has been testing the camouflaged prototypes on Indian roads over the last few months.
The production model will be manufactured at Honda’s Tapukara facility in Rajasthan and the plant is also set to supply export markets. The company has reportedly committed around Rs. 1,200 crore toward EV manufacturing at the facility. India and Japan are among the principal markets identified for the electric SUV which puts the Tapukara programme at the heart of Honda’s all-electric transition.
The five-seater SUV is expected to have a wheelbase between 2,700 mm and 2,800 mm. The figure could put it about 100 mm above the Elevate in wheelbase speculatively and a slightly greater track width is also likely. The overall profile follows Honda’s “Thin” design philosophy through a low roof finish and generous ground clearance – backed by a packaging that looks to preserve interior space.

The Indian prototypes reveal several elements that stay close to the concept’s overall shape. The front shows projector-like lighting and an enclosed fascia, and flush door handles sit along the sides beside aero-style wheels. The rear section is upright and features slim vertical lamps, an integrated spoiler and a rear wiper. The concept also previewed an illuminated Honda badge and a full width rear lighting signature.
The cabin uses a layout that differs sharply from the Elevate. The dashboard features a large central touchscreen alongside a digital driver display and the flat-bottomed three-spoke steering wheel has paddles expected to adjust regenerative braking levels. The prototypes also showed physical climate switches beneath the touchscreen. Equipment such as a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS functionality, wireless smartphone connectivity, dual-zone climate control and wireless charging will also be available.

Rumours point to battery capacities between 65 kWh and 75 kWh and possible CATL-sourced cells and we expect the claimed driving range to be well over 500 km between charges. The SUV is set to compete against the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra XEV 9e, Tata Sierra EV, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella and MG ZS EV amongst others. We can expect Honda to position its first electric offering in India between Rs. 17 lakh and Rs. 25 lakh (ex-showroom).
