The analog instrument cluster has been replaced by digital cluster and it comes with three stage eco-indicator which is similar to Grazia
Honda Dio is one of the popular sporty scooters in the country. The Japanese manufacturer introduced a new Deluxe variant of Dio which is placed above the standard model. The overall design continues to be same as the current model. The Dio received a major update in 2015 as the company made the scooter more modern.
The Deluxe variant comes with all LED headlamp with position lamp and the steel wheels are now finished in golden colour. The analog instrument cluster has been replaced by digital cluster and it comes with three stage eco-indicator which is similar to Grazia, this will be soon available across scooter range of Honda.
The Dio also comes with a 4 in one lock and seat opening switch just like the one on Grazia. The company has also given new front hook and retractable rear hook. The under storage now get the option of USB charging for mobile phones. Honda will continue to offer Dio in four colours – Matte Axis Grey Metallic, Pearl Igneous Black, Matte Marshal Green Metallic and Dazzle Yellow Metallic.
Honda Dio continues to be powered by 109 cc single cylinder engine producing 8 hp of power at 7,000 rpm and 8.91 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. This engine is mated to CVT gearbox. The engine also gets HET technology for improved efficiency and it is already offered across the scooter range of Honda.
Even though Dio uses the same engine from Activa 5G, the power output is slight lower on Dio. We don’t know why Honda detuned the engine for Dio. Honda has given bottom-link front suspension and mono suspension at rear. We hope that in the next update, Honda might replace this age old suspension with telescopic unit.
The braking duties are done by 130 mm drum brakes at front and rear as the company don’t offer disc brakes. Honda Dio Deluxe variant is priced at Rs. 53,292 (Ex-Showroom, Delhi) and it is Rs. 2000 more than the regular model. But considering the features list, new model is certainly worth the premium.
