Most of the upcoming products from Honda will be based on an all-new platform because of the BSVI transformation

From April 1, 2020, only BSVI models will be sold in India and most of the manufacturers are working around the clock to upgrade their current portfolio to meet the upcoming emission norms. Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India is planning to introduce an all-new platform for most of the products.

Yadvinder Singh Guleria, senior vice-president and operating head – Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India revealed that the company is focusing on BSVI transformation as he confirmed that most of the products in the portfolio requires new frame and chassis as it may not be true for the entire industry.

He has given some details about the upcoming new Activa 6G, which is expected to be launched later this year as Connectivity is one of the things on the new Activa. Similarly, there are many other new features that the customer might not be aware of and could come as a surprise. I would like to tell them, ‘Please wait for those surprises!’

The connectivity features which he mentions might be Bluetooth connectivity for the instrument cluster as TVS is already offering this feature in NTorq, which includes navigation, SMS and Call update along with other features like park reminder etc. Honda has recently introduced this feature on the new XPulse range.

The new Activa 6G has been already spotted in India and the scooter comes with lots of changes like new telescopic forks at the front, which will improve handling and comfort. The company will also offer black finished alloy wheels and disc brake at the front, both these features might be limited to top-spec models.

Apart from this, Honda will tweak the front panel while the side and rear will be carried over from the current model. The instrument cluster on the test mule spotted in same one current Activa as the speedometer is analogue while all other information is displayed on the digital screen. The updated engine might offer more performance.
