Honda took 23 years to reach the massive sales milestone of 6 crore units in the Indian market, thanks to the good reception for Activa and Shine amongst other models

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has reached a significant milestone of 6 crore unit sales in the domestic market. The Japanese auto major made its debut in India with the Activa as the retail sales commenced in June 2001 and since then, the company has etched numerous milestones courtesy of the good reception for the Activa and Shine amongst other two-wheelers.

Honda took eleven years to reach its first milestone of 1 crore customers. However, the pace accelerated significantly, with the company achieving the 2 crore mark in the following three years. Subsequently, the 3 crore milestone was reached in April 2017, approximately 16 years after its inception.

Impressively, the next 3 crore customers joined the Honda family in just under seven years, culminating in the remarkable achievement of reaching the 6 crore domestic sales milestone in March 2024. Commenting on this huge achievement, Tsutsumu Otani, MD, President & CEO – Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, said,
