Along with the Xpulse 200 and 200T, the company plans to introduce the Hero HX200R to fill the gaping void left by the Karizma R

Hero MotoCorp is popular for showcasing many interesting concept motorcycles but taking an eternity to push these models into production. While the Hero Xpulse is one such example, the good news is that it’s finally launching early next month. However, the company will not stop its new model onslaught at the dual-purpose motorcycle. It will also launch the Hero HX200R, a fully-faired motorcycle based on the HX250R showcased 6 years ago.

Back in the day, the Hero HX250R was being touted as the perfect successor to the Hero Karizma R and ZMR and a model that could have easily taken on the likes of Honda CBR250R. However, the production version, which launches next month, retails the sporty full-fairing format but ditches the 250cc mill for a retuned version of the 200cc motor that powers the Xtreme 200R.

The Hero HX200R will complete the company’s 200cc range of motorcycles, which includes the Xtreme 200R for those who need an adequately powerful bikini-faired city motorcycle, Xpulse 200 for those who are into off-road action, Xpulse 200T for those who need a capable dual-terrain motorcycle and the HX200R for those into sports-touring.

The Hero HX200R will be loaded with the features that one expects from a model in this segment. It will offer a single-channel ABS, digital speedo cluster, split seats, split grabrails, fairing-mounted rear view mirrors, black-coloured alloy wheels, front and rear disc brakes, and a monoshock.

The Hero HX200R will be powered by a re-tuned version of the 200cc motor of the Xtreme 200R. Chances are that the powertrain could boast liquid-cooling and fuel-injection and tuned to deliver a maximum power of 20 hp. It should come mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

The Hero HX200R will be a direct rival of the Bajaj Pulsar RS200 and Yamaha Fazer 250. While the Karizma took the bike market by a storm back when it was first introduced, the HX200R won’t break any new grounds in terms of design and specifications. Hence, it remains to be seen if it would be able to retell the success tale of Karizma.
