Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R is expected to make world debut at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show in October before going on sale in Japan

We have been closely following the international media reports on the upcoming Kawasaki four-cylinder motorcycle based on the Ninja 250. The recent development is that the 250 cc bike will cost between THB 2,60,000 (Rs. 5.82 lakh) and THB 2,80,000 (Rs. 6.27 lakh approximately).

The price details were reported by GreatBiker and in comparison, it appears to be slightly pricier than the Honda CBR250RR. Speculatively dubbed the Ninja ZX-25R, the performance figures and the equipment level it is said to offer makes it more of a bargain in comparison with the CBR250RR.

But the Yamaha YZF-R3 is way cheaper than that with decent equipment level. It should also be noted that the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R’s reported pricing takes it closer to the Ninja 650, priced at THB 3,06,500 (Rs. 6.86 lakh) in Thailand. The Ninja ZX-25R is expected to be a throwback to the old four-cylinder 250 cc motorcycles.

The inline four-cylinder engine, in all probabilities, will be liquid cooled and fuel injected and is said to generate a maximum power output of 60 PS. In comparison, it is 11 PS more than the Kawasaki Ninja 400 with a parallel-twin engine and nearly 20 PS in excess compared to the stock Ninja 250.

Moreover, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R will likely hit the red line at 20,000 rpm. Expect the Japanese manufacturer to employ lightweight performance components and exhaust while an array of electronic aids and safety features could be on offer. It could draw design cues from the ZX-10R and some say the Ninja H2.

The ZX-25R is believed to make global premiere at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show in October. It could be up for grabs in Japan first before expanding to other Asian markets. It is co-developed by Kawasaki’s HQ in Japan along with inputs from the other ASEAN divisions. Chances of the ZX-25R launching in India are currently uncertain.
