Ford is going to introduce an update for Freestyle with changes like body coloured OVRMs, adjustable headrest and new Ruby red colour option
Ford officially launched the Freestyle in April and it is positioned as a crossover model below EcoSport. The Freestyle is getting a good response from the market and now the company is going to introduce a minor update for the crossover with changes like body coloured OVRMs as current model get black colour and adjustable headrest at the rear.
The Freestyle will also get a new Ruby red colour option along with current six colours – Canyon Ridge, Smoke Grey, Moondust Silver, White Gold, Absolute Black and Oxford White. Ford has also increased the price of Freestyle slightly and it comes in four variants – Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium+.
The crossover is based on Figo hatchback and the company has given slight changes to make it look different as the Freestyle gets new black finished honeycomb grille along with metallic roof rails, new front and rear bumper, 15-inch alloy wheels, black plastic cladding across the body and 190 mm ground clearance.
The Freestyle is longer, wider and taller than Figo as it measures 3,954 mm length, 1,737 mm width, 1,570 mm height and 2,490 mm wheelbase. Even though the dashboard design has been carried over from Figo, the company has made some changes like the new centre console and instrument cluster.
Ford has given lots of features for Freestyle like 6.5-inch SYNC 3 touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice commands, Ford MyKey, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, keyless entry, push-button start, multi-function steering wheel, climate control, electronically controlled OVRMs and more.
The safety features include 6 airbags on top end variant (dual airbag standard), ABS, EBD and reverse parking sensors. Ford is offering two engine options with Freestyle, the new 1.2 L 3 cylinder petrol engine produces 96 PS and 120 Nm and the 1.5 L diesel engine puts out 100 PS and 215 Nm. Both these engines are mated to 5-speed manual gearbox. According to ARAI, the diesel engine returns 24.4 kmpl & 19.01 Kmpl with petrol.
