Ford Figo Aspire is late to the party, but has an extremely likable package with the compact sedan
Ford is all set to get aggressive this year with a lot of products coming this fiscal year including New Figo, New Endeavour. One of them is the highly awaited Ford Figo Aspire, a compact sedan that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2014. The design which wooed everybody is all set to hit the roads soon. Ford has been very clever with its market strategy and has already spread the word by making commercial in broad daylight and displaying the car in malls across the country. The good news is, after all the teasing the official details are out.

We knew that the Ford Figo Aspire comes with a black and beige interior and the same dashboard from the Fiesta. There are changes in the cockpit area and they are done for the good. Cabin surely shouts premium-ness with the colors and materials used at first glance. Exterior of the car is a of a well proportionate compact sedan with good detailing in headlights and tail-lights and needless to say that stunning look front grill.
Features on the Ford Figo Aspire include the basic connectivity package with dual airbags standard on all variants. Top of the line Titanium variant has class leading and segment first 6 Airbags on offer. You also Art leather seats on electric ORVMS, Ford Sync and steering mounted and controls and much more on the top-end Titanium variant of the Ford Figo Aspire.
The engines as expected are 1.5 Diesel with a surprising power figure of 100 BHP of power. Even more surprising thanks to Ford’s new focus on aerodynamics, the car has a whopping claimed mileage of 25.8 km/l as well. Power and economy in a Ford already make an enthusiast wet dreams come true. A new 1.2 petrol engine also makes its way which makes 90 PS of power and 112 Nm of torque which delivers as per other segments cars a, 18.6 km/l claimed mileage figure.
The another shocker is the 1.5L automatic petrol engine that is mated to a dual-clutch gearbox which is yet again a segment first. Power is rated at 110 BHP and 136 Nm of torque, which is almost a segment above power and torque figures. A healthy mileage figure of 17 km/l has been claimed and we reckon that given Dual-clutch gearbox nature it can deliver very close to that. Not so best part is that the government puts tax on small cars with petrol engines more than 1.2l of displacement.
Ford Figo Aspire has 359 litre boot space which is not class leading but almost there. Dimensions of the Ford Figo Aspire are of proper compact sedans. Length is rated at 3,995mm meanwhile, width is 1,911mm and Height is 1,525mm. Wheelbase of 2,491mm should liberate a lot of space in the cabin. Coming to best part are kerb weight figures which are impressive and should aid excellent performance and economy.
Weight for the 1.2L Petrol starts from – 995 to 1,015 kg, 1.5L Petrol-Auto is 1,038 to 1,047 kg, Weight 1.5L Diesel starts from 1,023 to 1,048 kg. All now Ford has to do rain magic with the pricing and with that styling, economy and performance on offer and the Ford Figo Aspire should sell in excellent numbers in our market.
