In an exclusive interview with GaadiWaadi.com, a top company official has revealed that the Volvo S60 Cross Country sedan will be introduced for the Indian market in the middle parts of March 2016. The Volvo S60 Cross Country is the first sedan from the Swedish luxury auto maker to get a Cross Country procedure with 65 mm raised ground clearance compared to the stock model and will be offered with a full-time all-wheel drive system. The executive luxury model is for the customers who seek driving versatility from a four-door body-styled sedan with room for five occupants.

With a better rough road riding, generous bootspace of 340 litres with rear seats up and lifted suspension, the Cross Country sedan features an elegant premium cabin sourced from the standard S60 and employs a floating centre console that provides a storage space behind the climate control buttons.

It gets powered by the exclusive turbocharged 2.5-litre five-cylinder motor which is good enough to generate a power output of 250 hp at 5,400 rpm and 360 Nm of peak torque developed between a wide band of 1,800 and 4,200 rpm. The overboost function enables a power-boost for ten seconds that lifts up the torque to 400 Nm.

The engine comes mated with a six-speed Geartronic automatic transmission and helps the S60 Cross Country to sprint from standstill to 100 kmph in 6.7 seconds. Volvo could more likely opt for the 2.0-litre D4 diesel unit producing 187 bhp driving the front wheels as far as Indian market is concerned. As a half sedan and half crossover, it has no real competitors but it will cause stir in sales figures for compact luxury crossovers like Mercedes GLC, Audi Q5 and BMW X3. As a four-wheel drive model, it will challenge the best-selling Mercedes C-Class, Audi A3 and BMW 3 Series.
