New Citroen C3 Aircross range will be available in hybrid and all-electric guises in Europe; will go on sale this summer there
Citroen has revealed the new C3 Aircross range for Europe and it stands in line with the design of the Euro-spec C3 hatchback. The French manufacturer vows to position the new B-segment SUV aggressively in terms of pricing and both models are based on the Smart Car platform with flexibility in powertrain choices and cost efficiencies.
Compared to the old model, the 2024 Citroen C3 Aircross gets a thorough overhaul and the interior can seat up to seven occupants. The exterior is based on the Oli concept as the C3 with the new brand identity signature and the latest styling philosophy. The all-new C3 Aircross is scheduled for launch by summer in Europe.
The B-SUV segment has seen over two million registrations each year in recent past. Citroën initially ventured into the B-segment in 2008 with the C3 Picasso. The Aircross designation debuted in 2017 with the C3 Aircross, which set a benchmark for practicality. The new version will feature electrified options ranging from hybrid to pure electric.
Additional details about the new C3 Aircross will be disclosed closer to its launch. It comes with a length of 4.39 metres and segment-largest wheelbase allowing for more legroom for rear passengers. The design of the quarter panel and the vertical rear end, ensure good habitability for occupants in the third row and the trunk has two foldable seats.
The SUV silhouette enables a raised ground clearance and facilitates onboard access and favouring a high driving position that allows for better visibility. Like the C3 sedan, the new C3 Aircross will highlight comfort and will have packed equipment and technologies. The upright front end displays the new Citroën logo and adopts the characteristic lighting signature in 3 luminous segments while incorporating the chevron pattern on certain elements.
In a typical Citroen way, it gains dual-tone roof finishes and punchy colour accents. Other visual highlights are a high and horizontal hood, widened wings and tracks, solid shoulders benefiting from protection that crown large wheels with a diameter of 690 mm. The brand has noted that the all-electric powertrain will be affordable and it will be produced in Europe. Speculations surrounding the eC3 Aircross for India have appeared on the internet but we expect it to be based on the localised eCMP platform and the styling could be influenced by the existing C3 Aircross ICE.
