BYD is preparing to bring its premium Denza brand to India by the end of 2026, with two very different products leading its charge. The Denza D9 luxury MPV and the Denza Z9 GT performance fastback are expected to arrive as completely built-up units (CBUs), with the brand positioned above BYD in the Indian market. Denza’s products are expected to start at around Rs 80 lakh, putting the brand firmly into luxury territory.
The two cars are designed to showcase very different sides of Denza. The D9 is a large luxury MPV aimed at buyers looking for chauffeur-driven comfort and premium family transportation, while the Z9 GT is effectively a technological showcase. Denza itself sits above BYD’s existing portfolio, which is expected to cover roughly the Rs 20 lakh to Rs 80 lakh space in India.
The Z9 GT is easily the more outrageous of the two. The India-bound version is expected to be the fully electric model, using three electric motors, one at the front and two at the rear. Together, they produce a staggering 1,156 hp and 1,210 Nm. The result is a claimed 0 to 100 kmph time of just 2.7 seconds, which puts this large five-door fastback firmly into supercar territory.

Despite its performance, the Z9 GT is a substantial car, measuring around 5.18 metres in length and weighing close to 2.9 tonnes. It uses a 122.49 kWh Blade battery and is claimed to offer around 600 km of WLTP range. The car also features cell-to-body construction and an active body control system designed to improve stability and reduce pitching under acceleration and braking.
The Denza D9, meanwhile, takes the traditional luxury MPV route. It is expected to come to India in fully electric form and will compete with established luxury MPVs such as the Toyota Vellfire, Lexus LM, Mercedes-Benz V-Class and MG M9. The D9 uses a 2+2+3 seating layout, with the second-row captain seats expected to be the highlight of the cabin.

Those captain seats are designed to offer the kind of comfort expected from a premium MPV, with powered adjustment, heating, ventilation and massage functions. The second row also gets extendable leg rests and fold-out tables, while other highlights include three-zone climate control, a Dynaudio audio system and leather upholstery.
Denza is also expected to operate through exclusive dealerships separate from BYD, initially focusing on major metropolitan markets such as Delhi-NCR and Mumbai. Both models will therefore arrive without the advantage of local production, which is likely to push their prices considerably higher than BYD’s existing models. The D9 is expected to sit around the Rs 80 lakh-plus mark, while the Z9 GT could potentially stretch well beyond Rs 1 crore.
