According to an Indian government mandate, the two wheelers above 125 cc have to come fitted with Anti-lock Brake System or ABS from April, 2018 onwards. In an attempt to significantly reduce the number of accidents involving two wheelers in India the central government has taken this decision, and all the two wheelers need to come compliant with this regulation. Now with this mandate global automotive component manufacturer Bosch is eyeing the potential in the rapidly growing two wheeler market in the country. The company is focusing on ABS, EMS and connectivity solutions in the Indian two wheeler market.

Bosch is claiming it will provide new generation ABS systems to the Indian riders even for the bikes fitted with front only disc brakes. The company believes in near future India will play a crucial role in its global business as the country is expected to contribute more than one third of Bosch’s global business of two wheeler components. The company claims, with its new generation ABS system fitted to the upcoming bikes every third accident involving a two wheeler can be avoided. Not only that. Fitting an ABS will reduce the speed of collision which will eventually reduce the chance of major damage.

Apart from ABS the automotive component developer company will focus on Engine Management System or EMS. The EMS technology will reduce the fuel consumption in two wheelers. The company claims, that this technology has been developed keeping the emerging markets like India and other developing countries in mind.

The EMS is an entire mechanism, which comprises a control device, a fuel injector and specially developed software. This technology implements software algorithm instead of using the individual sensors fitted in the two wheeler. This way the system improves the fuel efficiency by up to 16%, as Bosch claims.
