The service cost of new BMW G310 R is really high as the company is charging more than Rs. 9,000 for the first service
BMW Motorrad officially commenced its India operations last year with its premium line up but enthusiasts were eagerly waiting for the company to introduce the affordable G310 twins. The launch of G310R and G310 GS took place in July and even though pricing was on the premium end, the bike was very well received.
The pricing gave us hint of what to expect for service cost also as it won’t be cheap and a G310 R owner has shared details of first service cost. When compared to competitors, the company is charging really high for even small stuff as running-in check cost is Rs. 1,793 and Rs. 1,569 just for cleaning.
The trend continues for other things also as Rs. 1,165 for chain clean, Rs.1,462 for chain spray and BMW Motorrad engine oil is priced Rs. 1,996. The first service bill amount of G310R is Rs. 9,200 with taxes and this was a free service. The G310R twins are manufactured in India and exported to global markets.
The company is charging premium service cost for BMW brand name and all the future customers need to take note about service costs too. The Apache RR 310 share the same underpinning with BMW but the service cost is cheap compared to G310 twins.
BMW G310R and G310 GS are powered by same 313 cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled, reverse-inclined engine producing 34 hp of power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and the top speed is 145 kph. The naked premium bike tips the scale at 158.5 kg.
The braking performance comes from 300 mm disc at front and 240 mm disc at the rear, dual channel ABS is standard. The G310R gets 41 mm upside golden finish forks at front with 140 mm travel and mono-suspension at the rear. The tyres are 17-inch alloy wheels with 110/70 R17 at front and 150/60 R15 at the rear, they ride on Michelin Pilot Street radial tyres.
