After the launch of the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, the Bajaj-Triumph partnership could introduce 2 new affordable offerings in the 250cc segment

The Bajaj-Triumph partnership has managed to grab a lot of attention by launching the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X in the Indian market. The Roadster retails for Rs. 2.33 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Scrambler’s price will be announced in October 2023 around the festive season. The bookings for both two-wheelers are already underway and the deliveries of the Speed 400 are expected to start very soon.

In a very interesting update, it has come to light that the joint venture could likely be working on two new affordable 250cc motorcycles. What’s this update all about? Let’s find out. A screenshot of the brand’s official website has been highlighted which lists a number of models including the Roadster 400 and Scrambler 400, both of which have already been launched as Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X.

Apart from these, the bikes in question, the Scrambler 250 and Roadster 250 are also a part of the listing. This directs at the possibility that the Bajaj-Triumph JV could be working on two new affordable quarter-litre bikes, thus targeting a wider range of market segments as well as potential customers.

If this is true, the 250cc offerings will be positioned below the latest 400cc bikes and the price will also be reasonably lower. Apart from this, the design and styling of these motorcycles will be quite similar to 400cc twins, however, there will obviously be some differentiating elements, both in terms of features and hardware on offer.

The company can easily tweak the current chassis to accommodate the smaller displacement mill and it will be quite cost effective as well. Furthermore, the expertise of Bajaj Auto can be put to use while developing the new 250cc engine as the Indian two-wheeler giant already has a number of offerings in the quarter-litre category.

Currently, the 250cc segment has several competitors in the Indian market like the Bajaj Pulsar 250 and Dominar 250, KTM Duke 250, Suzuki Gixxer 250 twins and more. However, the retro charm of Bajaj-Triumph 250cc bikes can help them stand out in this category.
