Bajaj has expanded colour palette of the Dominar 400 in India; no mechanical changes made

Bajaj Auto has added new colour options to its flagship bike, the Dominar 400. The performance tourer was spotted wearing an appealing racing Red paint scheme earlier and after its official reveal, the deliveries have indeed begun as well. Bajaj has also introduced a Matte Black paint scheme with gold wheels and a blue shade adding more zing to the motorcycle.

After showing the concept version dubbed Pulsar CS400, the Pune-based manufacturer launched the Dominar 400 in December 2016 and it grabbed everyone’s attention with attractive design and high performance capability. But, the bike couldn’t fetch desired sales result against its main rival Royal Enfield Classic 350.

Priced at Rs. 1.42 lakh and Rs. 1.56 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) for the non-ABS and ABS variants respectively, Bajaj Dominar 400 had so far been available in four different colour options. They are Midnight Blue (now replaced by Glacier Blue), Twilight Plum, Moonlight White and Matte Black. It has now been increased to six in total. However, apart from the new colour choices, no other changes are made.

Bajaj Dominar 400 draws power from the same 373.3 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that works in KTM Duke 390. This engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission and it is well capable of churning out 35 PS of peak power at 8,000 rpm and 35 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm.

Braking duty in this bike is done by a 320 mm front disc brake and a 230 mm rear disc brake as well. There is a dual-channel ABS on offer as option. For suspension duty, the bike relies on 43 mm telescopic front forks and multi-step adjustable monoshock absorber at rear.

Apart from the current model, Bajaj Auto has patented an adventure version of the Dominar 400 that is expected to arrive in the near future. Introduction of this new Bajaj Dominar Adventure model will certainly enhance the appeal of the Dominar range that is tipped to expand in the years to come.
