Audi has officially announced the price of Q8 for the US market and it starts at $67,400 (Rs. 48.59 lakh)
Audi officially revealed Q8 Coupe SUV earlier this year and it is the production version of Q8 SUV Concept, which made its debut at 2017 North American International Auto Show. The company has officially announced the price of Q8 for the US market and it starts at $67,400 (Rs. 48.59 lakh). The German manufacturer has already begun sales of new Q8 in selected European markets.
The Q8 Coupe SUV will be available in three trims in the US – Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. Even though pre-order has begun, Audi will commence deliveries only in 2019. The coupe SUV is currently available only with a single engine option in the US, which is a 3.0 L turbocharged V6 petrol engine producing 330 bhp of power and 500 Nm of torque.
This engine is mated to 8-speed automatic transmission and power is sent to all four wheels via Quattro all-wheel-drive system, which is standard in all variants. The all-wheel-drive system in Q8 is rear biased as power is transferred 40:60 in normal conditions and it will change depending on road conditions.
In other markets, Audi is also offering this same engine with 282 hp output and 3.0 L TDI engine with 228 hp will also join the lineup next year followed by plug-in hybrid models and possibly an EV variant sometime in future. The company has already announced that all future models will come with a 48-volt mild hybrid system as it will enhance efficiency.
Audi Q8 is based on the same aluminium platform as Q7 and it measures 4.99 m in length, 2.0 m in width and 1.71 mm in height. The Q8 comes with 254 mm ground clearance and the company has carried over the same design theme as the concept model. The front gets single frame octagonal grille along with LED headlamps and new bumper at front.
The coupe SUV design theme is evident from side and rear gets LED tail lamps. The interior design is similar to what we have seen in new A8 as the company has given 12.3-inch virtual cockpit display along with 10.1 inch MMI screen on top and another 8.6-inch screen at the bottom to control other things like climate control. Audi might introduce new Q8 in India by the end of 2019.
