Aprilia to expand SR scooter range in India; SR 150 sporty scooter has been expected to start delivery from 23rd August onwards
Aprilia SR 150 has been launched few days back in India. With this the Italian two wheeler manufacturer has entered the premium scooter segment in the country. Now the company plans to introduce more scooters in the SR range and expand its product lineup in India. The next product in the SR range might come in 2017.
The scooter segment in the two wheeler market in India has giving the motorcycles tough competitions. Apart from budget scooters people are also leaning toward the premium scooters in the market. Therefore seeing the potential of the premium scooters Aprilia wants to expand its lineup in the country.

The company is still tight lipped about its plan. But rumors are that the next Aprilia SR scooter will be a smaller one likely to be christened as SR 125. It would share the engine with the Vespa 125 scooter. Interestingly, the Aprilia SR 150 shares its engine with the Vespa 150 premium scooter. The Aprilia SR 150 is being produced at the Piaggio’s Baramati plant in Maharashtra.
The Aprilia SR 150 gets power from a 150 cc single cylinder air cooled engine mated to a CVT gearbox. The engine is well capable to churn out 11.55 PS of peak power at 7,000 rpm and 11.5 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. The scooter is also claimed to come delivering better performance and better fuel economy compared to its Vespa 150 sibling.

Expect the next Aprilia SR series scooter to be sold through the Piaggio Vespa dealerships, just like the SR 150. It will also be available at MotoPlex multi brand showroom in Pune, Chennai, Kochi and Hyderabad. The scooter comes in two different colour options, white and black. Expect it come with a waiting period of 45 days to 60 days.
