Around 53,270 vehicles registered every day across India in 2015
Vehicles registration in India is seeing a surge in recent years. The 2015 has seen a total of 1.96 crore vehicles registered in the country, which is all time high in the country. This means around 53,270 vehicles were registered everyday in the country. This includes both the passenger vehicles and the commercial ones as well.
Passenger vehicle sales in the country have increased to a new level in last decade. Till 1993 around 10 lakh cars used to get registered every year. But the globalization wave swept Indian market, the sales of vehicles started rising gradually. In 2010 the sales figure increased dramatically. In 2014 Indian market has seen a total of 1.94 crore vehicles registered.
The largest number of vehicles registration is from Uttar Pradesh. Last year, in UP a total of 24.38 lakh vehicles were registered. At the second position is the Maharashtra with 19.91 lakh vehicle registration. Karnataka is at the third position with 15.15 lakh vehicles registered in the state last year. The national capital has seen a registration of 6.27 lakh vehicles.
Interestingly, 75% of these registered vehicles are two wheelers. This indicates, the two wheelers market is booming rapidly in India. The main reason behind this is the lower cost of two wheelers in the country. Experts believe the way the number of vehicles are rising in India, within next two decades the total number will reach around 35 crore in the country.
While people are merrily purchasing vehicles now a days, experts see a dark picture looming in future. The more the number of vehicles grow; the need for better roads grow. But that is not happening the way it should be. Also the surge in number of vehicles across the country means traffic situations worsened. Experts believe, the government and authorities should provide viable and alternate transport mediums immediately.
