2016 Delhi Auto Expo: New Hyundai Sonata Hybrid unveiled in India, Launch likely by November this year
The growing popularity of the hybrid sedans has led to Hyundai lifting the cloak off the Sonata Hybrid at the glamorous Auto Expo 2016 at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida. With electric and hybrid vehicles have become the agenda due to the Delhi government’s recently established policies to clampdown pollution, the Toyota Camry Hybrid has been doing good sales numbers since the start of January and Honda Accord will venture into the executive space quite soon.
More densely populated and emerging cities are expected to take drastic actions for curbing pollution and therefore the hybrid sedans are gaining more attention than ever. The 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid will be roomy and comprises of luxurious cabin besides incorporating latest technologies and safety features.
The 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid arrives with the South Korean manufacturer’s 2.0-litre “Nu” GDI four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox with a powerful 38kW electric motor. With driving dynamics set to remain as the standard model, there will be 10 percent more improved fuel economy in comparison to the 2015 model.
The 2.0-litre GDI DOHC 16-valve Inline quad-pot petrol engine paired with an electric motor and battery gives a combined power output of 193 hp at 6,000 rpm and 205 Nm of peak torque. This unit will be mated with a six-speed auto box with SHIFTRONI and the drive is sent to the front wheels.
It will come loaded with safety features like Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), traction control, brake assist, ABS with Electronic Brake Force Distribution, blind spot detection, rearview camera amongst others. As for the interiors, the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is equipped with five-inch colour touchscreen display, Bluetooth hands-free, key entry push button start, leather seating with power front seats, auto dimming rearview mirror, etc.
