A host of new MPVs are waiting to launch in India over the next year or so and here we have listed them from brands like Maruti Suzuki, Kia, MG and Nissan:

1. New-Gen Kia Carnival:

The new-gen Kia Carnival is set to make its debut in India for the first time in the coming months. Representing a radical departure from its predecessor both inside and out, the all-new Kia Carnival promises to be more technologically advanced than ever before. It is expected to retain the powerful 2.2L diesel engine, delivering 200 PS and 440 Nm of torque. This engine is likely to be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

2. MG MPV:

MG’s upcoming electric MPV is set to be based on the Wuling Cloud EV. It could potentially be launched within the next 12 months. With dimensions measuring around 4.3 meters in length and a wheelbase of 2,700 mm, it is slightly shorter than the Maruti Ertiga and could be priced in the Rs. 15 lakh range. An all-new electric SUV is also under development.

3. Maruti Suzuki Compact MPV & e-MPV:

Reports suggest that Maruti Suzuki is in the process of developing a compact MPV, codenamed YDB, positioned below the Ertiga to compete with the Renault Triber. This MPV is speculated to draw inspiration from the Spacia with potential cost-cutting measures implemented to ensure competitive pricing.

In terms of performance, there are indications that Maruti Suzuki may opt for the upcoming 1.2L Z series mild hybrid petrol engine to power this vehicle, enabling an efficiency of over 35 kmpl. The largest car producer in the country is also working on an electrified MPV for the Indian market and it will arrive in the future.

4. Nissan MPV Based On Triber:

The Renault-Nissan alliance has a lineup of new vehicles in the pipeline for the Indian market. While Nissan is gearing up to launch the facelifted Magnite and X-Trail, the true wave of new products is expected to hit the market between 2025 and 2026. Among these upcoming releases, a new midsize SUV and a seven-seater model are reportedly under development, based on the new-generation Duster’splatform. Additionally, there are plans for a compact MPV, which will share the same platform as the Renault Triber.
