This is the biggest update that the Bajaj Dominar 400 power cruiser has received since its launch in December 2016
The updated motorcycle is now called the Bajaj Dominar 400 UG, where the UG stands for ‘upgrade’. The 2019 Dominar 400 gets few cosmetic and mechanical updates as well and will be launched soon. That said, here are the 5 things you need to know about the 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 UG.
1. Additional Features
Bajaj has tried to add plenty of new information in the instrument console of the motorcycle. The full digital information cluster now displays some additional information including fuel consumption, average speed, side stand indicator, and fuel range. The fuel tank mounted console, on the other hand, gets a new gear position indicator, time and trip meter.
2. Better suspension setup
This is perhaps the most practical change that the updated Dominar has received. The motorcycle now features upside-down forks (sourced from KTM Duke 390) and a revised monoshock suspension setup. The good news is that the rear profile also gets bungee strap mounts which will help those tie their luggage at the back while touring.
The 2019 Dominar 400 although is powered by the same 373cc single-cylinder engine which was also used by its predecessor. However, the same unit now gets a new DOHC (Dual Overhead Camshaft) layout which promises to offer better efficiency at top revs.
As a result, it now generates 39.9 PS of peak power at 8650 rpm (almost 5 PS more than its predecessor) the torque amount, on the other hand, remains the same at 35 Nm which is now available at 7,000 rpm instead of 6,5000 rpm.
4. Plenty Of Cosmetic Updates
Apart from receiving mechanical updates the motorcycle also carries significant cosmetic updates as well. The motorcycle now gets blacked out bits on its wheels, redesigned mirrors, and a new double barrel exhaust finished in matte black. Lastly, it also gets a new metallic green colour (which by the way looks to be inspired by the Kawasaki motorcycle).
5. Possible Rivals
Although Bajaj has not yet revealed the prices of the new Dominar yet but expects the motorcycle to be priced at least Rs. 15,000 to 20,000 more than the outgoing model. Expect the new 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 to be priced at around Rs 1.80 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
With the new prices, the Bajaj Dominar will rival directly against the likes of the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and 500, Jawa 42 and the Jawa etc. It will still be priced lower than the KTM Duke 250, and the KTM Duke 390.
