Here we have explained about the 4 upcoming hybrid cars from Maruti Suzuki and Toyota in India and their possible launch timelines

Ahead of the transition towards electrification in the future, automotive manufacturers are looking at alternate ways to keep emissions in check and offer good mileage. While plug-in hybrids are far-fetched, the self-charging strong hybrid and mild hybrid systems are identified as immediate solutions.

Here we have talked about four upcoming hybrid cars in 2024 from Maruti Suzuki and Toyota as their partnership holds plenty of significance in moving the needle due to their expertise in this particular field. The Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Innova Hycross and Grand Vitara are testaments to their success in hybrid technology.

1. New-Gen Maruti Suzuki Swift & Dzire:

The all-new Maruti Suzuki Swift will be introduced in India in early 2024 and the first ever spy images came up on the internet only a few days ago. It was showcased at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 in Tokyo in its hybrid form. India is expected to get a Z series engine replacing the K series unit with mild hybrid technology.

The same powertrain and tech will likely be expanded to other models in the brand’s domestic portfolio. It will offer higher mileage due to higher overall efficiency and the technology incorporated. Just like the new Swift, the new-gen Dzire will also gain exterior and interior revisions and it could be launched by the middle of 2024.

2. 7-Seater Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara:

Expected to launch in late 2024 or in 2025, the seven-seater version of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara could feature minor cosmetic updates and the addition of new equipment. It could be sold with a 1.5L mild-hybrid petrol and a 1.5L strong hybrid petrol engine with manual and automatic transmission choices.

3. Toyota Fortuner Hybrid:

Toyota will introduce the mild hybrid spec Hilux pickup first in markets like Australia before plonking the same GD series powertrain onto other models including the Fortuner full-size SUV. It will boast improved fuel efficiency and perhaps performance too. Whether it will be available with the existing generation Fortuner or a brand new one is not known yet.
