Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is actively developing a range of fresh offerings for the Indian market. Among these is the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, a rebranded variant of the Fronx, scheduled for release this year. Additionally, there are indications of three additional SUV models in the development pipeline. Below, we provide details about each of them.
1. 7-Seater Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder:
The upcoming three-row iteration of the Toyota Urban Cruiser, known as the Hyryder, is set to utilize the platform of the forthcoming Maruti Suzuki Y17. Mirroring the approach of its five-seater counterpart, the seven-seater Hyryder will share many similarities with the Y17 (7-seater Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara).
Expectations point toward the utilization of the familiar 1.5-litre strong hybrid petrol engine, with the possibility of also offering the 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol mill. It will likely undergo rear modifications to accommodate seating for two additional passengers. Furthermore, expect potential enhancements to the features list.
2. Toyota Fortuner Mild Hybrid:
Toyota has been progressively introducing the mild-hybrid variant of the Hilux across various international markets, with plans to follow up with the debut of a similar version for the Fortuner. Given the widespread popularity of the Fortuner in India, the country could potentially be among the initial markets to receive this technology. The mild-hybrid system works with the GD series diesel engine to enhance acceleration, fuel efficiency, and overall performance.
3. Toyota Electric SUV:
Based on the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX, it will be launched sometime in H1 2025. The five-seater midsize electric SUV is expected to use a 60 kWh battery pack with a claimed driving range of around 550 km on a single charge. Both single and dual electric motor setups could be sold upon arrival.
4. Toyota Taisor:
The compact SUV coupe based on the Fronx will go on sale in the coming months and it will have minor visual differences compared to its donor. It will be powered by the same 1.2L NA petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol engines as the Fronx and the interior will be identical as well.
