Below is a brief overview of the 3 Toyota SUVs expected to be launched in the Indian market within the next 18 months

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is reportedly planning to introduce up to 3 new SUVs in India within the next 18 months. One of these models is a brand-new electric SUV, based on the Maruti Suzuki eVX, which is slated for the latter half of 2025. This electric SUV is expected to offer a driving range of up to 550 km.

Before the launch of the electric SUV, two hybrid SUVs are expected to debut as well. With these new SUVs, TKM aims to broaden its appeal in the Indian market, offering a mix of conventional and zero-emission models to cater to a wider range of customers. Here we have brought you all the key information:

1. Toyota Electric SUV:

Toyota’s first-ever electrified SUV is expected to launch in the second half of 2025, drawing design inspiration from the Urban SUV concept unveiled last year. This new electric vehicle will share a significant amount with the Maruti Suzuki eVX, including the underlying platform, a derivative of 27PL. Inside, this electrified SUV will come loaded with a variety of features and technologies including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

2. Toyota Fortuner Mild Hybrid:

The upcoming mild hybrid electric vehicle (MHEV) variant of the Toyota Fortuner is expected to feature a 48-volt mild hybrid system. This technology enhances the performance of the existing GD series diesel engine by providing additional power and torque, especially during acceleration and low-speed driving. Additionally, the 48-volt system helps to reduce emissions and increase fuel efficiency.

Although specific launch details for the mild hybrid electric vehicle (MHEV) variant of the Toyota Fortuner are yet to be disclosed, it’s speculated that it could be introduced later this year or in early 2025.

3. 7-Seater Toyota Hyryder:

The 7-seater iteration of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder will arrive in early or mid-2025. It will compete with other three-row SUVs like the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari and Hyundai Alcazar. To differentiate itself from the standard model, it will gain cosmetic enhancements and new features. However, the familiar 1.5L mild-hybrid petrol and 1.5L strong hybrid petrol engines will continue.
