The 2024 Kia Sonet facelift gets a multitude of updates inside the cabin and on the design front; the diesel MT makes a comeback
Kia India has today hosted the world premiere of the facelifted Sonet in New Delhi. The updated model marks the first biggest revision for the popular compact SUV since its market launch in September 2020 and its pre-bookings will commence on December 20. The 2024 Kia Sonet gets a thoroughly redesigned exterior and a heavily updated interior while the features list has gained notable new equipment.
In terms of its appearance, the 2024 Kia Sonet undergoes a transformation with a reworked front grille incorporating new hexagonal inserts. This is complemented by a more distinct headlight unit, more prominent C-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights, a refreshed front bumper, newly designed horizontal LED fog lights, and all-new alloy wheels.
The rear gains new LED tail lamps interconnected by a light bar along with a redesigned bumper. Transitioning to the interior, a predominantly black theme defines the space showcasing a large touchscreen infotainment system reminiscent of the Seltos. It is equipped to support wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto accompanied by a semi-digital instrument console, among other features.

The extensive array of features on the equipment list comprises a 360-degree camera system, a smart air purifier, in-car connective tech, a wireless smartphone charger, a single-pane sunroof, ventilated seats, cruise control, automatic climate control, and six airbags as standard to elevate its safety quotient. Additionally, the SUV features front and rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.

The 2024 Kia Sonet will be sold in seven variants namely HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTX+ and X-Line. Buyers will have the option to choose between eight monotone and two dual-tone shades and a matte finish. Besides the signature Xclusive Matte Graphite colour scheme, the dual-tone options are Intense Red and Glacier White Pearl, both finished with an Aurora Black Pearl roof.
The single-tone paint schemes are Pewter Olive (new) as in the facelifted Seltos, Glacier White Pearl, Sparkling Silver, Gravity Grey, Aurora Black Pearl, Intense Red, Imperial Blue and Clear White. As for the performance, the familiar 1.2L NA petrol, the 1.0L three-cylinder turbocharged petrol and the 1.5L diesel engines are carried over.
The wide transmission choices are a five-speed MT, a six-speed MT, a six-speed iMT, a six-speed torque converter automatic and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Kia won’t introduce a CNG version as it is not the priority of its customers but the brand is actively considering the technology.
The Level 1 ADAS suite of safety features and technologies enables Front Collision Warning (FCW), Front Collision-Avoidance Assist for cars, Front Collision-Avoidance Assist for cycles and Front Collision-Avoidance Assist for pedestrians along with Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Following Assist, Leading Vehicle Departure Alert, High Beam Assist and Driver Attention Warning.
