Mahindra Thar 4WD gets two new colours namely Blazing Bronze and Everest White and they recently made their debut in the RWD variant

Mahindra & Mahindra has added two new paint schemes to the Thar’s 4WD lineup. Earlier this year, the homegrown SUV manufacturer introduced two new shades with the RWD Thar namely Blazing Bronze and Everest White. They have now been made available with the 4WD variant taking the total number of shades to six giving more options to the customers.

The other colour schemes present are Aqua Marine, Red Rage, Napoli Black and Galaxy Grey. Mahindra sold a total of 30,221 units in the month of February 2023 as against 7,536 units during the same period last year with a YoY positive volume increase of 9.8 per cent. Compared to the previous month of Jan 2023 with 33,040 units, a YoY decline of 8.5 per cent was noted.

The lifestyle off-road SUV is currently offered only in its three-door guise and is priced at Rs. 9.99 lakh for the base RWD variant and it goes all the way up to Rs. 16.50 lakh for the range-topping trim (ex-showroom). The 4WD variant can be had in hard and soft top configurations but the RWD is available only with a hard top roof option.

Mahindra recorded a total of just over 5,000 units with the Thar last month as against 5,072 units during the corresponding period in 2022 with a near-flat YoY growth. The RWD Thar is equipped with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder D117 mHawk diesel engine found in the Marazzo and XUV300. It develops a maximum power output of 117 PS and 300 Nm of peak torque.

It is linked only with a six-speed manual transmission. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder mStallion petrol engine is also on offer and it kicks out a maximum power output of 150 PS and 320 Nm of peak torque. The powertrain is mated to a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission only. The 4WD Thar is sold in 2.0L petrol and 2.2L diesel engine choices.

The oil burner is linked with a six-speed MT or a six-speed AT. The features list comprises a touchscreen infotainment system, semi-digital cluster, cruise control, LED DRLs, electronically adjustable ORVMs, and so on. The bigger five-door Thar will likely debut later this year.
