Nissan will be launching the updated 2020 Leaf in Japan next year in February

The Nissan Leaf EV marks its 10th anniversary next year, and the Japanese car manufacturer is all set to launch an updated version of the car in its home country, which will see it get a few additional features, along with two new colour options.

The electric hatch comes with Canto, Nissan’s signature projected sound that helps pedestrians and other drivers in traffic be aware of the oncoming Leaf, since EVs have no engine sound. The ProPILOT driving assistance now features speed control and park system. Apart from that, the 2020 Leaf also gets Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention.

The updated EV comes with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system as standard with door to door navigation, OTA map updates, and Docomo in-Car Connect system that enables Wi-Fi while on the move. Google’s search tools have also been equipped onto the car. Also, a dedicated app can help owners keep a check if their Leaf is locked or not.

Also, the sportier Leaf Autech trim has been updated with the same features as well. However, it gets a unique ‘Aurora Flare Blue Pearl’ paint job, coupled with the ‘Super Black’ roof.

The Leaf comes with a 110 kW electric motor that provides 147 hp power to its front wheels, which comes paired to a 40 kWh battery. The EV also gets a 160 kW electric motor in higher variants, which puts out 214 hp of max power and comes with a larger 62 kWh battery pack.2020 Nissan Leaf7
