Second-gen Jeep Compass facelift will go on sale in Brazil next year while India launch can be expected towards the end of 2020

Jeep India has built its success in India through the Compass SUV as within a year of its market entry more than 25,000 units were sold leading other manufacturers to have a profound look at the burgeoning segment. Despite the good initial run, the Compass could not maintain its consistency in monthly sales.

The American manufacturer has been trying everything it could to revive the numbers with the regular introduction of new variants and special editions, but nothing has made a significant impact. With the Compass being the only largely accessible production from Jeep in India, the company will have to dig deep further as it is about time to bring in new launches to steady the ship.

While the smaller Renegade is tipped to arrive next year, what we do know for certain is that the Compass is getting the range-topping and more off-road focussed Trailhawk variant soon. The existing generation Compass has been around for more than two and a half years and it beckons a facelift sometime in 2020.

Jeep Compass Sales Drop India

According to a media report, the 2020 Jeep Compass will have revised front grille, headlamps, tail lamps as well as front and rear bumpers. We can expect the interior to have its fair share of updates, as the inclusion of new equipment focussing on comfort and convenience along with safety and connectivity will make the facelifted Compass more appealing for buyers.

Possible mechanical and electronic changes cannot reportedly be ruled out either. The updated Compass will also receive a new 1.3-litre FireFly turbocharged engine and it will likely stand in place of the 1.4-litre MultiAir2 Turbo powertrain. The four-cylinder unit produces two different states of power.

The lower variants will get access to the 150 PS and 270 Nm version mated to a six-speed dual dry clutch transmission while the 180 PS and 270 Nm variants are expected to be coupled with a nine-speed automatic transmission. At the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, Jeep showcased the Compass Plug-in hybrid with the aforementioned new engine connected to an electric motor.
