Expect the 2019 Suzuki Gixxer duo to continue with the BS-IV compliant engine while the BS-VI compliant unit will be launched later in 2020
Suzuki will launch the updated 2019 Gixxer 155 and Gixxer SF in India in the month of May 2019. We already have reported earlier that the trial production of both the motorcycles has begun as well. There is no doubt in the fact that the Suzuki Gixxer duo is the most value for money offerings that you can buy in this segment.
Suzuki Gixxer’s rival including the Yamaha FZ series as well as the Honda Hornet 160R has received their fair share of updates recently. Now you can expect Suzuki to also offer the same kind of treatment to their Gixxer variants. Expect the 2019 Gixxer and the Gixxer SF to receive full LED headlamp that will replace its halogen headlamp setup.
Although the current instrument cluster provides plenty of information to the rider, you can still expect a new digital instrument cluster and some new colour options added to the updated models as well. Fortunately, Suzuki already offers a single channel ABS as standard for the safety of the rider with the motorcycle.
The 2019 Suzuki Gixxer and the Gixxer SF 150 will be powered by the same 154.9 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled BS-IV compliant engine that produces about 14.8 PS of peak power at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. You can expect the updated BS-VI compliant unit to arrive in the year 2020.
Now for your information, Suzuki already provides a fuel injection with the fully faired Gixxer SF variant and there is a fair chance that they might also add fuel injection to the Gixxer 155 as well which will help improve the throttle response and the fuel efficiency at the same time.
As far as their pricing is concerned, the Suzuki Gixxer ABS variant is priced at around Rs. 88,941 (ex-showroom) whereas the Gixxer SF FI ABS variant retails at Rs 1,01,906. We believe that the 2019 models will receive a marginal price increment over the outgoing models.
