2019 Discovery Sport comes with a powerful version of the 2.0 L Ingenium diesel engine with 180 PS and 430 Nm
Land Rover has officially launched 2019 MY of Discovery Sport in India at the starting price of Rs. 44.68 lakh (Ex-showroom) and it is available in four variants – Pure, SE, HSE and HSE Luxury along with Land Mark Edition, which was introduced earlier this year and it comes with cosmetic changes along with new colour options compared to the regular model.
The biggest update for Discovery Sport is the introduction of a powerful version of 2.0 L Ingenium series diesel engine and it is available from SE as the entry-level model continues to be powered the old-spec engine. The new 2.0 L diesel engine produces 180 PS of power and 430 Nm of torque, the power is sent to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission.
The Discovery Sport with this new engine can hit 0-100 kph in just 8.9 sec and top speed is 188 kph. The same 2.0 L engine on Pure variant puts out 150 PS and 382 Nm, mated to the same 9-speed gearbox. The 0-100 kph sprint takes 10.9 sec and top speed is 180 kph. The SUV continues to be powered by the 2.0 L Ingenium petrol engine with 240 PS and 340 Nm.
The petrol Discovery Sport also comes with the 9-speed auto and it has more performance as the SUV can hit 100 kph from standstill in just 7.9 sec and top speed is 204 kph. Land Rover hasn’t made any changes for the design of Discovery Sport and the top end HSE Luxury comes with optional Dynamic Design Pack, which improve the sporty look of the SUV.
The Dynamic Design Package gets body styling kit, chrome finish for the tailpipes and black pack, which includes a black finish for the grille, black rear license plate plinth and a red ‘Sport’ badge also. The company has also upgraded the infotainment system on HSE Luxury to 8-inch Touch Pro, which comes with all the function of Touch Pro Duo system available on Velar.
The Discovery Sport is the entry-level model of Land Rover but still, it comes with Terrain Response system, which gets different settings like gravel, rock etc. The company has also given 825 W Meridian Surround sound system with 16 speakers and a dual channel subwoofer system. Land Rover Discovery Sport compete against BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Mercedes Benz GLC in India.
