Hyundai is developing new generation of Santro (the name is not yet officially confirmed) and the test mules were spied in different parts of the country but the interior was still under cover. The interior of new generation Santro was spotted for the first time. Even though interior was partially covered, we could get over first glimpse of the centre console and steering wheel.

The interior of new Santo took inspiration from Grand i10. Hyundai has given black and beige colour combination for the interior as the steering wheel which has controls for audio and the gear lever comes straight from Grand i10. The design of centre console appears to be new and might come with touch screen infotainment system.

The instrument cluster gets speedometer in the middle with tachometer on the left hand side while the battery and fuel gage is placed on the right side like Grand i10. The Santro comes with fixed head rests and the door pocket is huge and it can hold couple of bottles easily.

The Santro gets electrically adjustable OVRMs as there is not option to controls the mirrors manually in this test mule. But the odd thing is that power window switches are placed behind the gear lever. Hyundai hasn’t given push button start or may be this might not be the full option variant of Santro. Overall the interior appears to be a tweaked version of Grand i10.

Hyundai-Santro-front-spiedOn the exterior, Hyundai has given large swept headlamps with fog lamps placed just below it. The signature Hyundai grille will be upfront which will give a wide stance for the Santro. The test mule comes with steel wheels and the Korean manufacturer might offer alloy wheels on the top end variant of Santro. The tail lamp took inspiration from Grand i10 and the bumper has black inserts.

Hyundai is developing a new 1.0 L 3 cylinder engine for Santro. We can expect the power output to be around 70 hp and Santro will be the first model from Hyundai to come with AMT transmission option along with manual. We are expecting Hyundai to launch new Santro later this year in India and it will compete against Renault Kwid and Maruti Suzuki Celerio.
