India-bound 2019 Hyundai Elantra gains exterior updates and improved features; new safety technologies also introduced
A few weeks ago, we showed you the heavily updated avatar of the Hyundai Elantra for the global customers and it is expected to make its presence felt in India during the course of next year. Firstly, the revised styling featured is nothing short of impressive, alongside equipment enhancements.
The pricing has now been announced in the US with base SE variant starting at $17,100 (Rs. 12.27 lakh). It is at a slight increase compared to the previous Elantra with standard six-speed manual transmission. Adding a six-speed AT will make the buyers pay for another $1,000.
Moving up the order, the SEL grade asks for $19,400 (Rs. 13.92 lakh) and it gets Hyundai’s suit of safety technology called SmartSense. The Value trim with automatic ‘box begins at $20,400 and the Eco variant will have its prices starting at $20,950 (Rs. 15.03 lakh). It derives power from a 1.4-litre turbocharged engine with seven-speed auto gearbox producing 128 hp.
The Limited trim, on the other hand, is sold for $22,600 (Rs. 16.21 lakh). The yet-to-debut Sport variant of Elantra is the range-topper with prices of $22,400 and $23,500 (Rs. 16.86 lakh) respectively for six-speed manual and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The 2.0-litre motor powering the SE, SEL and Limited trims makes 147 hp and the 2019 Hyundai Elantra Sport gains the same 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine pumping out as much as 201 hp. The new Elantra comes equipped with SmartSense suite in the SEL variant.
The entry-level SE trim features five-inch color screen, reversing camera, Bluetooth connectivity, steering wheel with mounted audio controls, etc making it one of the captivating offerings.
It gains forward collision avoidance, lane keep assist, and driver attention alert. The Limited trim has forward collision avoidance with pedestrian detection and Safe Exit Assist while blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change assist are optional.
