2019 Hyundai Creta Sport adorns plenty of black cosmetic accents while the interior also carries the dark theme
Hyundai is riding high with the persistent popularity of its Creta compact SUV since it was first introduced in mid 2015, so much to the point that other or upcoming manufacturers vying to snatch its spotlight with models of their own. The Creta received a mid-life facelift a few months ago and it is helping in maintaining its average sales of around 10,000 units monthly.
It is the second best-selling SUV in the domestic market currently and Hyundai has been exporting the model to several overseas markets as well. Creta has found success in another emerging market, Brazil, in the last few years and the Korean auto major has now introduced its Sport variant there.
The 2019 Hyundai Creta Sport has cosmetic changes to differentiate itself from the regular model with a slew of black accents. It comes with blackened front grille, glossy black skid plate, black finished wing mirrors and newly designed 17-inch wheels in black colour.
The rear gets black treated as well as elements like shark fin antenna, integrated spoiler, roof rails and skid plate are done up in the same dark theme. The cabin complements the exterior with all-black theme, apart from subtle brushed aluminium touches.
The 2019 Hyundai Creta Sport derives power from a 2.0-litre flex fuel engine in Brazil. It develops 156 horsepower and 187.31 Nm of peak torque when driven on petrol, while the performance increases to 166 hp and 201 Nm when Ethanol is used as primary fuel. As standard, the engine is connected to a six-speed manual transmission as standard.
Underlining its Sport badge, Hyundai has also stiffened up the suspension for lesser body roll. Whether the Hyundai Creta Sport will be launched in India or not is up for anybody’s discussion. But if Hyundai decides to introduce the Sport variant, it will make for an interesting proposition against Mahindra XUV500 and Jeep Compass.
