2018 Maruti Suzuki Swift Special Edition gets several additional accessories and is based on LXi and LDi trims

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) introduced the latest generation Swift at the 2018 Auto Expo amidst much anticipation and it has lived up to its hype and rightfully followed the footsteps of its predecessor.

Since February 2018, the Swift has averaged well over 19,000 units monthly and is hoping to garner even bigger response from customers with a special edition. The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Swift Special Edition comes with a number of added features and is offered only in the entry-level LXi and LDi trims. The additional accessories and paint job fitment are performed by dealers.

Priced at Rs. 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the largest automaker in the country has added several features to make the base variants more attractive for customers. The list of additional equipment is concentrated on the exterior as well as interior.

On the outside, the Maruti Suzuki Special Edition comes equipped with body coloured Outside Rear View Mirrors, body coloured door handles and black finished wheel covers. Stepping inside the cabin, you will be treated with a single DIN music system with dual front speakers, power windows for driver and co-passenger, remote central locking facility and reverse parking sensors for additional safety.

Currently, the popular hatchback is sold in 14 trims between Rs. 4.99 lakh and Rs. 8.76 lakh (ex-showroom) under VXI, ZXI, VDI and ZDI grades. The third generation Swift uses a 1.2-litre K-Series DOHC petrol engine with Multipoint injection developing 83 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The 1.3-litre turbocharged diesel DDiS, on the other hand, makes 74 bhp at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm at 2,000 rpm.

Both the powertrains are connected to either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT gearbox. The petrol engine has rated fuel economy of 22 kmpl while the diesel is ARAI certified to return a highly impressive 28.4 kmpl mileage. Maruti Suzuki has retailed over two million units of the Suzuki hatchback in India in the last 13 years, and is on course to set new records with the latest generation model.
